North Island Spa Recommendations

Rotorua:

Polynesian Spa: Top 10 World-Class Spa Resort, Polynesian Spa is the #1 spa you must visit during your trip to New Zealand.  The unforgettable rotten egg aroma reminds you that your body is desperately needing some relaxation after your joyful and tiring day.  Aucklander is willing to drive approximately 3 hours for a short escape in the weekend.  As a World-Class spa resort, it is entirely fascinated with a wide range of pools; from private pool to kids’ pool.  The location of Polynesian Spa is also Visitor Friendly, surrounded by a variety of hotels and many other adventures place in Rotorua.  Therefore, do not miss out this on your traveling list. 

Hells Gate: Another great spa to go while being in Rotorua. An unusual experience, especially for ladies.  Hells Gate is very famous for its mud pool, where you can soak yourself in hot mud; it is one of the best treatment for both your body and skin.  Along with the warm temperature that heats you up in an icy cold winter night, the mud is perfect for you.  It’s located only about 15 minutes’ from Central Rotorua, a very convenient distance so you can play there with your kids for a couple of hours then return to your accommodation as a perfect finish for the day.  

Kerosene Creek: Located out near Wai-O-Tapu, Kerosene Creek is a great option if you prefer something a bit more ‘au naturel.’  It is 35 minutes south of Rotorua, a free hot water spring; Kerosene Creek.  It’s a mix of Hot water which comes underneath the earth and bubbles up into the calm waters of the creek.  It’s a beautiful experience to swim along a 2-metre natural warm waterfall.  

Taupo:

Spa Park: Spa Park is near the Taupo Bungy facility. It is a popular spot with locals and tourists; the free pools features mini waterfalls which are great for the full-body submersion experience.  It is a hot place for visitors during winter so we suggest visiting there early in the morning so you can enjoy a moment of quietness before it’s getting packed by people.

Coromandel:

Hot Water Beach: On the coast of the Coromandel Peninsula, Hot Water Beach is not only an excellent experience, but it’s also free! It is famous for a patch of thermal water bubbling just under the surface of the sand during low tide.  You can enjoy the sound of wave in your hand-made pond; Yes, you’re going to dig your own little pond.  You can stay as long as you like, we highly recommend a visit there during a cold or light rainy day.

South Island Spa Recommendations

Canterbury:

Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools & Spa: Here is another excellent place where you can soak in naturally heated mineral-filled water or treat yourself with a wide range of spa therapies.  Unlike the famous Onsen pool, this is a family-friendly thermal pool.  It offers thermal mineral, sulfur and freshwater pool as well as a large children’s activity area.  So, if you are having a holiday with your family along with kids, this might be a great place to check-out together.

Franz Josef:

Glacier Hot Pool: Glacier Hot Pool is in the temperate rainforest at the base of Franz Josef Glacier.  Although it might not be as big as other hot pool that is mentioned, it is truly a lovely little pool with character.  Unlike most of the hot pool, this is a pool that directly inside a rainforest.  As a fascinated pool,  this is the only hot pool in the area that is surrounded by a forest.  It will give you a touch of nature and emerge you with mother nature.

Queenstown:

ONSEN hot pool: ONSEN should be our top pick in Queenstown, one of the best combinations of relaxation and nature.  Under some romantic music with tinkling candlelight in your private room, you can fully relax your body in the outdoor cedar tub. While your body is enjoying the cuddle of the hot tub, your eyes will be amazed by such a fabulous view through the retractable garage door; a perfect natural painting that was crafted by god.  Don’t miss out this hot pool, especially during the snowy wintertime of Queenstown.
